ABOUT THE BEE
WHY CIVICS?
The Canton Chamber of Commerce is participating in the National Civics Bee for the third consecutive year because we believe that informed and active citizens make for a strong country, a strong economy, and a strong workforce. We also believe that our continued prosperity depends on the strength of all three. Through the Bee, we are promoting greater civic knowledge in Michigan and celebrating our civic pride. The Canton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a local civics competition that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Participating 6th, 7th, and 8th graders across Michigan will flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes. The top finalist from each participating state will once again be invited to Washington, DC, to compete in the Third Annual National Civics Bee® National Championship in the fall of 2026.
A college education fund of $100,000 will be awarded to the top finalist, with cash awards of $25,000 and $15,000 to second and third place winners.
